Tag Tuesday: Inside and Out Book Tag

Hello wonderful people!

For this week’s Tag Tuesday, I (Monisah) am going to do the “Inside and Out” Book Tag so you can get to know my reading habits! The tag was originally created by MathomBooks on Youtube, and has been floating around a few of the book blogs I follow, so I thought I’d join in on the fun!

I-         Inside flap/ back of book summaries: Too much info or not enough?

Personally, I like to know a bit about the book before I read it, so the summaries are an ideal size for me! Before reading a book I like to read spoiler free reviews just to find out other people’s opinions on the book, to help me make my decision (because I’m so indecisive).

N-         New book: What form do you want it in? Be honest: audio book, e-book, paperback, or hardcover?

Definitely paperback! I am not a fan of e-books because I like to have the book in my hands and actually turn the pages when reading a book (I know, I’m really weird). Also, I feel like when I have an actual book, it motivates me to finish the book. It’s more of a commitment than an e-book. I haven’t tried to listen to an audiobook, simply because I like to listen to music while reading a book, and that is kind of impossible with audio books.. I prefer paperbacks to hardbacks because paperbacks are usually smaller and lighter and I find them more comfortable to read!

S-         Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, taking notes, making comments, or do you keep your books clean clean clean? (Tell us why)

UUGHHHHHH (warning: I’m about to rant) HANDS DOWN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I am such a clean freak when it comes to books: no scribbles, no cracked spine, just a post-it note to scribble on when I’m reviewing a book. I like my books to look presentable, not tacky. But here’s the thing, Ayesha thinks it’s totally acceptable to scribble in books and underline quotes and it honestly makes me cry because we share books. It is the most annoying thing if she reads a book first because there will be scribbles everywhere and it annoys me so much. OKAY RANT OVER but yes, definitely clean clean clean.

I-          In your best voice, read for us your favourite first sentence from a book.

Ohh, this is a hard one for me. I don’t even have a favourite book let alone a favourite first sentence! I love so many books I simply can’t choose! (I told you I’m indecisive!) Although here are a few first sentences/paragraphs that I like:

“There was a boy in her room.” ~ Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

“First the colours.
Then the humans.
That’s usually how I see things.
Or at least, how I try.” ~ The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

“Looking back, none of this would have happened if I’d brought lip gloss the night of the Homecoming Dance.” ~ Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

“XTC was no good for drowning out the morons at the back of the bus.” ~Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

“Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.” ~Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J.K Rowling

D-         Does it matter to you whether the author is male or female when you’re deciding on a book? What if you’re unsure of the author’s gender?

Not at all! It doesn’t matter in the slightest if the author is male or female. I don’t really consider the authors gender when deciding on reading a book. I usually pick a book depending on the genre and storyline.

E-         Ever read ahead? Or have you ever read the last page way before you got there?

I can proudly say I have never read the last page of any book before I got there! It annoys me when people do that because what’s the point of reading a book if you know how it ends?! The mystery of what’s to come is all part of the fun when reading a book!

AND

O-         Organized bookshelves, or outrageous bookshelves?

My bookshelf used to be really organised.. My mum has OCD and so she helped me organise my books and it was pretty immaculate. But….. since then I have bought way more books and now all my books have outgrown my bookshelf. So now there are piles of books on top of other books and it’s kind of a disaster! I need a bigger bookshelf!

U-         Under oath: have you ever bought a book based on the cover (alone)?

I am so guilty of this. I know you aren’t meant to judge a book by its cover but books are so much more appealing if they are pretty! I bought “My true Love Gave to Me” simply because the cover is absolutely gorgeous. No regrets.

T-       Take it outside to read, or stay in?

I love to read books when I’m all cosy in bed and have a hot cup of tea beside me, so I have to say stay in! Also, I live in Wales where it’s almost always raining, and you can’t really read a book in the rain soooo……..

Let me know your answers in the comments, and thank you, once again for reading this!

I tag Brin at bringuivera and Lisa at mamalisa4 to do this tag next!

Stay beautiful,

Monisah xo
